Policies and Procedures
For a complete description of all Residence Life and Housing policies and procedures, please visit the Student Handbook. Below, please read through a few policies or procedures that we would like to highligh for you.
Residency Requirement
As a residential college, Augustana affirms the value of living in community together and we therefore require students to live in college housing. The College has a three year* residency requirement for students who enroll at Augustana for the first time beginning in the fall semester of 2006 or later.
Students are required to live in college-owned housing during their first, second, and third years* unless they are:
- Enrolled as a part-time enrollment student (fewer than 10 credits per semester), or
- Married or have parent/guardian status for a dependent child.
- Living with immediate family (parent or legal guardian) in the local area.
- At least four years beyond their high school graduation date.
*Note: This residency requirement is not based upon earned academic credits but rather the number of years a student has attended college or has had other post-high school experiences.
Overnight Guests
Students are allowed to host overnight guests in their rooms during the academic year, but must adhere to the following guidelines when doing so:
- Student host must submit an Overnight Guest Form to Residence Life and Housing staff.
- Guests must be of the same gender as the student host.
- Guests may stay no more than two (2) consecutive nights with a host.
- Host student must inform their roommate(s) of the intent to host prior to submitting the Overnight Guest Form.
Additionally, student hosts need to be aware that:
- Guests may be asked to leave if they are involved in any violation of College policy.
- The College reserves the right to remove a guest from the premises if it is deemed to be in the interest of the health and safety of the residential community.
- Guest housing is not permitted during vacation periods when room availability is limited.
